Former Trans Mountain engineer says B.C. floods show pipeline expansion is too risky

As British Columbia heads into another weekend of heavy rain with the potential for more flooding and landslides like the ones that have forced thousands of people to flee their homes, Romilly Cavanaugh, a former engineer with Trans Mountain, is turning her attention to the oil and gas pipelines that run through the affected area. Despite everything the area has seen in recent weeks, Trans Mountain says there has been no serious damage to the pipeline and that nothing has leaked from it. But Cavanaugh, now an independent environmental engineer, says the advance of climate change means we need to rethink the way we measure the risks associated with pipelines.
