Ottawa announced big money to protect Wood Buffalo National Park. But the Chief of the Mikisew Cree First Nation warns that the money must be accompanied by bold action.

Last week the federal government submitted a progress report to UNESCO.
It outlined progress on its action plan to protect ecosystems in Wood Buffalo National Park.
It also announced almost $60-million dollars in funding over the next three years.
Wood Buffalo National Park is a World Heritage site.
But that status could be at risk if UNESCO isn't satisfied with Canada's actions to protect the Park's ecosystems.
Since 2014 the Mikisew Cree First Nation has been calling on Canada to improve its protection of the area.
