Michel Groulx reports from the tent city where he lives
Michel Groulx lives on a tree-lined strip of ground that separates busy Notre-Dame Street from the quieter Montreal neighbourhood of Hochelaga. It’s a narrow park, more like a median strip, with a bike path running through it. This community is new. A sort of city within a city. It's a tent city, populated by people experiencing homelessness, who don't want to risk their lives in cramped shelter accommodations during the pandemic. We gave Michel a tape recorder and three weeks to tell his story, as the weather turned colder and the first snow fell on the Notre-Dame encampment.
