A now-defunct TV station in Detroit has been added to the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. government.
WGPR was channel 62 in the Windsor/Detroit market.
The station went on the air in 1975.
It was the first Black-owned-and-operated TV station in North America.
The TV channel signed off in 1994, but the station on Jefferson Avenue is still home to WGPR FM and it's also a museum.
Joe Spencer is the president of the WGPR Historical Society, he spoke with Tony Doucette.
