Four-inch stilettos and teetering platform shoes will always have a place in my heart, and in my closet. But when going out these days, I'm mostly committed to wearing stylish flats that I will feel great in all night long, even after hours on my feet and long walks between party venues.

If you're in the same pragmatic state of mind, you'll love these dressy flats. These fashionable beauties incorporate dazzling, festive elements — think metallic leather, sequins, and feathers — but will be much more comfortable for a lively night out, especially if there's dancing involved.

Made in a delicate polka dot mesh, these slingbacks are timelessly chic, and the black and white palette is easy to coordinate. Plus the covered pointed toe means you won't have to splurge on a mid-winter pedicure.

Diane von Furstenberg Koko 4 Slingback Flats, $303.10,

Designed in Edmonton and made in Mexico, these Poppy Barley leather shoes come in three different widths and colours; the wide, asymmetric straps help them stay on your feet better than classic ballet flats.

The Beltline Cutout Flat Gold Sand, $235,

You can't go wrong with red satin shoes, especially when the shade is spot-on and there are ruffles involved. Consider these a chic year-round footwear option.

Faryn Flats, $198,

Patent leather, menswear-inspired loafers look particularly great paired with a velvet jumpsuit or your fave tuxedo pants. And there's a sparkly bow on top!

Nerillan, $65,

These sleek suede flats have a sparkling, embellished strap that doubles as jewelry for your foot.

Karl Lagerfeld Paris Noel Mary Jane Flats, $205 (on sale for $102.50),

Trust us, not all glittery footwear is created equal. If you're in love with the profile, it makes sense to splurge on a higher priced pair that won't get destroyed by normal wear and tear.

Jimmy Choo Jennie Glitter Ballet Flats, $625 (on sale for $319),

These eye-catching, structured brogues are great for the office, but would look just as cute when you hit the dance floor. Wear them with a sequinned slip dress or metallic skirt, and you're sure to shine brightly.

Silver Patent Leather Brogue Oxford, $160,

Sequins and oversized pom poms embellish these delightfully OTT slides, which will instantly liven up any LBD in your wardrobe.

Kitt Pom Pom Sequin Slides, $192.72,

These seriously covetable flats feature embellished buckles and a floral metallic jacquard fabric that stands out from the crowd.

Crisscross Buckle Strap Flats, $215,

A dressy boot is never a bad idea, especially when snow is in the forecast; this star-embellished one would look great worn with jacquard trousers or a midi-length tulle skirt.

Watts Bootie, $550 (on sale for $275),
