Kids share their opinion about vaccine misinformation online

Canadian kids weigh in on whether or not vaccine-related misinformation should be banned and removed from social media sites. Here’s a sample of the opinions they shared with CBC Kids News. DATE STAMP: Oct. 18, 2021
Should vaccine misinformation be banned from social media? Emerson Age: 12 I think it should be, because lots of peoples’ decision on whether to get their vaccine is based on these videos they see on YouTube or Facebook or Instagram. Sometimes that information is not true and impacts their decision in a negative way.
Max Age: 12 Well, if people are just making jokes and if it’s their opinion then they can say what they want and we live free.
Aria Age: 11 Well I say it depends, because if it’s something like people being serious and lying, that should be banned. If it’s something funny and unbelievable, like the zombie TikTok, that is something that makes people happy. It shouldn’t be banned.
Maelle Age: 11 Misinformation about the vaccine on the internet should be banned because it makes it hard for people to choose if they want the vaccine or not.
Macy Age: 12 No, because people want to share their opinion and might get mad if they can't.
Antoine Age: 10 Yes, it should, because who wants to know false information? It's like thinking that you can hatch a chick from a turtle shell.
Dahlia Age: 12 For me, that is a hard decision. I think that vaccine misinformation is really bad, because younger people can be tricked easily by this, but I also think that people should be allowed to express their own opinions.
Kate Age: 12 Should vaccine misinformation be banned from social media? I think they should, since a lot of people online believe anything they read. Plus, it would stop false news from getting mixed in with real news when searching up things like
