Claim to fame
He shoots, he scores … a major role in a new Disney Plus series!
Canadian actor Kiefer O’Reilly stars in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which premieres on Disney Plus on March 26.
Born in Vancouver, Kiefer started acting at the age of three.
You might recognize him from shows like The Good Doctor and Home Before Dark.
His most recent acting role as Logan, a player on a misfit hockey team that faces off against the Mighty Ducks, allowed him to show off his passion for hockey.
I love the teamwork involved in [hockey] and friendship and also scoring goals — Kiefer O’Reilly, 13
What’s the show all about?
If you talked to your parents about the Mighty Ducks, they’d likely mention the series of popular movies that came out in the 1990s.
Those movies also inspired the naming of an NHL team, which is now known as the Anaheim Ducks.
This new series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, is a modern-day reboot of those movies.
The show is set in present-day Minnesota, where former underdogs the Mighty Ducks, are now a powerhouse team.

After a young player is cut from the Mighty Ducks team, he decides to form his own squad of misfit players — and one of those misfits is played by Kiefer.
And without spoiling too much, Kiefer’s character Logan might look like a pro player, but when he gets on the ice, it’s a whole different story. Yikes!
Filmed during a pandemic
Kiefer had fun filming The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers in his hometown, Vancouver.
He got to act with a few famous faces, including original Mighty Ducks star, Emilio Estevez.
Despite being filmed in 2020, near the start of the pandemic, no bad vibes were felt on set, said Kiefer.
For him, the experience of filming felt the same, except this time he had to put on face masks and use lots of hand sanitizer.
A definite highlight was participating in a two-week training camp with his co-stars.
They had to complete real hockey drills with coaches and had tonnes of fun, Kiefer said.

Making his own move
If Kiefer could create his own awesome hockey trick, what would it be?
It would be called The O’Reilly Special.
The puck would go through your legs, up over your shoulder and into the air, before you shot it into the net.
Phew. Talk about a goal!
