“Oh my gosh, this is so cool!” Gabby Douglas, two time 2012 Olympic gold medallist from Team USA, exclaims as she walks up to get her first glimpse of her mini-me: a one-of a kind, look alike Barbie doll.

“I never would have thought in a million years that I would be in this spot where everyone sees me as a role model.”

The doll is part of the “Shero” series that honours women who have pushed boundaries and expectations in their fields of discipline.

And it’s no surprise that Gabby is included. In addition to being a revered athlete and role model for girls, she is breaking barriers and setting new standards along the way. It was just announced that she will be representing the USA Olympic gymnastics team for the second time—which hasn’t happened to another American gymnast since the 1980s. She is not only the first African-American gymnast, but also the first woman of colour of any nationality in Olympic history to become the Individual All-Around Champion.

Now that’s a collection.
