The first ever Earth Day celebration was held in 1970 and since then, more than 500 million people in over 180 countries have participated in Earth Day activities!
Earth Day is a global event that is recognized every April 22 to raise environmental awareness in hopes of curving our impact on our planet.
Everything you do to help the planet makes a difference; whether you walk to school, or help to clean up litter in your neighbourhood. Let’s be mindful of our world and treat every day as Earth Day!
14. Turn off lights when you leave the room. During the day, open your curtains and enjoy natural light.

1. Stop using disposable bags, use reusable bags.
Plastic bags are not biodegradable. They clog waterways and end up in landfills where they may take 1,000 years or more to break down into ever smaller particles that continue to pollute the soil and water. Plastic bags also pose a serious danger to birds and marine mammals that often mistake them for food. Thousands of animals die each year after swallowing or choking on discarded plastic bags. Producing plastic bags requires millions of gallons of petroleum that could be used for transportation or heating.
