Canada is home to approximately 600 bird species, but the numbers of some of these species are dwindling. Scientists are asking adults and kids like you to count the birds in your backyard, with the hopes it will help them get a better picture of what’s happening in the ecosystem.

Every February, just spend 15 minutes over one weekend and go outside to count the birds. If you missed it and would like to continue bird-watching throughout the year, you can register for free with eBird or Project FeederWatch.

Here are some quick facts of the official birds of each Canadian province and territory:

Alberta
BC
Manitoba
Manitoba
Manitoba
Manitoba
Nova Scotia
Nunavut
