The impact of teacher cuts on PEI

TeachersPEI.jpgIt's no secret PEI's student population is declining, and that the province is trying to save money. That's how the department of education has justified cutting 34 teaching positions last year, and another 40 this year. But six weeks into the school year, there's concern those cuts are creating issues in some Island schools. CBC News has spoken to several principals... who say many of their classes exceed the province's class-size targets.

PEI's English School Board wouldn't allow any principals to do recorded interviews with us. However, CBC's Steve Bruce did speak to Karen Clare, a member of East Wiltshire's Home and School Association, and the English School Board's Superintendent Cindy Fleet.
