Shortage of Educational Psychologists on PEI

SchoolClassroom.jpgA national organization says PEI already had a shortage of educational psychologists BEFORE half the staff went on leave this year. Dr. Karen Cohen says PEI already had a shortage. Students are already waiting two to three years to get a learning disability or behavioral assessment. Laura Chapin gives us an update.

Kids Back to School - Teacher's Challenges

EducationMinisterAlanMacIsaac.jpgIsland teachers are facing new challenges, according to the PEI Teachers Federation. From loss of teaching positions to a proposed cut of common assessments, to an increase in PD Days. On this back to school day, Education Minister Alan MacIsaac joined Island Morning to discuss these concerns and about the loss of teaching positions and a lack of resources for students. We also spoke about common assessments and an increase in professional development days as well.
