Retirement

Not many people get to celebrate 50 years in their career. But this Sunday, Father Gerry Tingley will do just that.  The well known Roman Catholic Priest began at the Basillica in 1964. Since then, he has served in churches from one end of the Island to the other. From Tignish to Tracadie.... Rollo Bay to Fort Augustus. And many points in between. Island Morning's Sarah Keaveny Vos went to visit Father Tingley at his current parish in Vernon River. They sat down in Father Tingley's study... in the church rectory.

His 50th Anniversary celebrations will be held at St. Jo- Akim's Church in Vernon River this Sunday. With a Mass at 10:30 and an Open House in the Parish Hall from noon until 3 pm.
