Dr. Rhonda Matters - Addictions Treatment

Dr. Rhonda Matters was appointed PEI's first Chief Mental Health and Addictions Officer last fall. Health Minister Doug Currie says she will report shortly on next steps and immediate investments to be made to support addictions treatment.

Premier Robert Ghiz says his government will develop a long-term addictions treatment facility if that's the recommendation that comes from the province's Chief Mental Health and Addictions Officer.

Dr Matters will join us LIVE in the Island Morning studio.

Church Gossip - Rachel Campbell

Did ya hear about Mable's boy? Turns out he run off with a girl from Toronto! Well, as long as there have been church's, there's been something to gossip about. Now one Island theology student wants to find out how gossip helps, or hurts church communities. Rachel Campbell joined us to give us all the dirt, and we'll hear about her research study.

PEI Ghost Stories - Jan Driscoll

Halloween is only two weeks away but Jan Driscoll doesn't care about your costume... she wants to hear about your experiences with the paranormal. She's collecting PEI ghost stories and hopes to put the haunted tales into a book. CBC's Robyn Miller met up with her and Julie Haddow, the executive director of the apparently haunted Kings Playhouse. The theatre actually has a chair specifically left empty for a ghost.
