Bartending Record - Phil Gallant

Phil Gallant.jpgA bartender at Hunters Ale House in Charlottetown has been pouring beers for nearly 8 hours, while at the same time eyeing a Guiness World Record... for the longest bartending shift. Phil Gallant has been behind the bar since 10 a.m. Wednesday and plans to stop at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Mitch Cormier spoke with Phil about the challenge. It's also part of a fundraising breakfast with a big donation box... to help out the QEH.

The Great Big Swim - New Brunswick to PEI

JessicaPlummerIM.jpgA group of 34 people will swim attempt to swim the Northumberland Strait. They are part of 'Give to Live, The Great Big Swim.'  The group will be raising money for a charity of their choice. Jessica Plummer , the youngest female to ever try swimming the strait says she is ready to go. Also in the group is Kirk MacLeod, who has just finished up treatment for Colon cancer. Island Morning reached the participants and Todd McDonald, the organizer.

Strait Swimmer Makes History - Jill Leon

JillLeon.jpgJill Leon set out to make history and swim the Strait from Caribou to Wood Islands. CBC's Federico Cahis spoke with Troy Clements, who captained the support boat for Jill Leon's swim, and Jill Leon, the 57 year-old Island swimmer, believed to be the first person to complete the 20 kilometer stretch yesterday between Caribou and Wood Islands.
