Some Island grandparents are front and centre when it comes to raising their grandchildren. Sometimes there are many legal hurdles they have to jump and some don't know where to look for help.

That's why the Community Legal Information Association is putting together an information booklet for grandparents raising grand-kids.

Island Morning's Julia Cook spoke with Kelly Robinson with CLIA and Joan Newell from Summerside, who is taking care of two of her granddaughters after her daughter passed away about 8 years ago.

Three Generations of Lobster Fishing

Posted by Bill van Asperen

Lobster fishing is often passed down through a family.  A son learns it from his father who learned it from his father, etc. This is true for the Jollimore family in New London. Jimmy Jollimore can't remember a time when his family wasn't lobster fishing.  And now, aboard the boat Mama's New Shoes, James, Calvin and Chris... three generations of Jollimores are fishing outside the New London Bay area. Island Morning's Julia Cook brings us their story.

Posted by Bill van Asperen

MicahRenovations.jpgFour-year old Micah Gallant suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, and can't walk. His family wants him to be independent, so they've decided to gut their home, and completely rebuild it to make it accessible. We spoke with Micah Gallant and his family, and hear how their friends, family and neighbours are helping them reach their goal. The family expects to be back in their renovated homes in two or three weeks.
