From Shakespeare to Sondheim

ShakespeareSondheim.jpgThe Holland College School of Performing Arts is showcasing a variety show of talents this weekend, featuring the first-ever graduating class of the two-year Dance and Theatre Performance programs.

Island Morning's Lindsay Carroll went down to the Mack, where rehearsals for three different parts of the musical "Into the Woods" were underway. She spoke with second year Holland College performing arts student Jacob Durdan and dance instructor Taran Verkerk.

Bullying/Help Line - Jessica Fauvelle

Jessica-Fauvelle-IM.jpgBullying is big issue that affects many young people. It's something Jessica Fauvelle suffered through during junior high. She is a first year student at UPEI, originally from Fredericton. Jessica also has some ideas about resources she would have liked to have seen when she was experiencing bullying.

She recently wrote a letter to the editor talking about this issue. Island Morning's Lindsay Carroll spoke with Jessica Fauvelle, a first year student at UPEI, studing biology.

PD Day Cancellation

PDdays.jpgA professional development day planned for this Friday has been cancelled to try to capture back some of the lost class time with all the bad weather the Island's been having lately. That decision was made yesterday by both the English and French school Boards on the Island. But the possible changes don't end there.

Laura Chapin spoke with Alan McIsaac, PEI's Minister of Education and Gilles Arsenault, the president of the PEI Teachers' Federation.
