Canada: A People's History is built on the stories of the people who made and lived through the events that shaped our country. Whenever possible we see those people, and the world they saw, on screen in paintings, photographs and moving pictures from the past. Two visual researchers and their assistants in Toronto and Montreal searched all over the world for the most authentic and original sources.
RON KRANT, Visual Research Co-ordinator
Ron Krant is responsible for tracking down rare footage, photographs and illustrations from archives and private collections around the world. Krant's credits include researching for the National Film Board's renowned documentary producer, Donald Brittain, including for the film The Champions. He has been researching for the CBC for over 20 years, with The National, The Journal, The Magazine and Midday. Krant has worked on numerous award-winning documentaries and news programs, including CBC's Memoirs and Dawn of the Eye. Other credits include The McNeil Lehrer Hour and Frontline, both on PBS, and the CBC programs Witness and Life and Times.
HÉLÈNE BOURGAULT, Visual Research Co-ordinator
After studying social science at the University of Montreal and translation at McGill, Hélène Bourgault turned to video and filmmaking where she has worked as a documentary producer, researcher and translator.
