One week into production!

Posted on May 28, 2015

Well Heartlanders, production has a full seven days of production done and filmed. In fact, one half of day 8 (today) is done as well and since there are 15 days to a two-episode block, that means that one half of the first block of filming is done.

As you know, there is still a long way to go, with nine full blocks needed to be filmed to complete an 18-episode season. And so right through the start of the CBC broadcast of the premiere episode in the fall, until the middle of December will find the cast and crew hard at work.

And as some of you may have read, the season 9 premiere for Canada's longest running one-hour drama will be on Sunday, October 4, at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland). We'll be getting a countdown going a little later on this, won't we?

So far on set, most of the cast have already been in scenes (Kerry James' first day as Caleb is today) and actors playing other recurring roles will be making their way to Calgary before long.

I don't have a whole lot to share with you. but I can reveal some information about the next two episodes that are about to be filmed. Episode 903 is titled, "Riding For a Fall." It was written by Ken Craw. Episode 904 is titled, "Ties of the Earth." It was written by Heather Conkie. Both episodes are to be directed by Dean Bennett.

Gee - I guess I did have a bit to share with you, didn't I?

So now I can rest, knowing I have fulfilled the Blog Whisperer obligation to always supply you fans with information.

These photos are from last season. The first three are during a day of filming at the Dude Ranch. Three others were taken on a lazy summer's day at the ranch. One is a view of the house that you don't often see, and I never tire of looking at the two trees that have for nine years been in the background of many scenes.

As for the last photo, it was of Shaun Johnston (Heartland's trusty Jack), about to be photographed for upcoming promos. From the angle the photo was taken the image of Shaun on the screen is the same size as Shaun himself. I thought you would enjoy it.

So enjoy the photos and have a great upcoming weekend. I'll be back next Thursday, and of course watch for ongoing production tweets from set.

Until I blog again I remain, as always, obediently yours.
