The Dog Days of Summer

Posted on Aug 4, 2016

In Canada the 9 days of summer at the end of June can feel like spring, and the 3 weeks of summer in September sometimes feel like fall. That gives the country two months of what should be hot summer days and being as this is the first week of August, we are into that second month.

Filming is going well on this 10th season of Heartland. As many of you know, one-third of the episodes have been filmed and in four more work days the middle block of filming (Block 5) will start (Where does the time go?).

I'm really not leaking that many photos from season 10, but I thought the one above of Amber Marshall and Graham Wardle (Amy and Ty) from this season made for a nice visual for today's blog.

Now, as our main countdown tells us, there are 59 days until Sunday, October 2, when season 10 premieres across Canada on CBC at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland).

That also means there are 58 days until the cast & crew hosted by the Calgary International Film Festival. Many tickets have been sold, but there are still some left. If you are thinking of being in Calgary on Saturday evening, October 1, check out last Wednesday's blog on this page for more info, including how to purchase tickets.

And - boy is this going to get a response from our American Heartlanders - watch Heartland on CBC's Facebook Page next Wednesday - August 10, 2016 - when a special "What's Up Wednesday" will reveal specific season 9 broadcast details for the United States. That's right, season 9 will begin airing in America, and on more than one network. Next Wednesday we will start to announce details.

As you are reading this the key art for season 10 is being photographed in the studio. Soon new images will replace what we have had on this site and also on our social media pages for the past year. I am sure we'll all be looking forward to that.

So that's all this Thursday - short and sweet., just like summer in Canada.

In the 10 years Heartland has been filming there has been more days of lightning in June and July this year than in all the other seasons.Crazy, no?

Anyway, make sure you enjoy August. I know I plan to.

Next week I shall return with more photos and news and I will gleefully subtract another 7 days from our countdown which is now at 59 days... and counting... down... Tick... Tick... Tick...

Until then I remain, as I always do - obediently yours.
