Sunday’s NEW episode: new horse, new cast and new opportunities.

Posted on Oct 13, 2016

It's Thursday Canada. That can only mean (during this time in the fall) that there is a brand NEW episode of Television's favourite family drama this Sunday on CBC.

So yes Heartlanders, episode 1003 will be broadcast in three short days time (on October 16). Here's hoping you will be able to watch it.

Written by Ken Craw and directed by Eleanore Lindo, this Sunday's new episode is titled "New Kid in Town" and as you might expect it introduces a new character to Heartland. That character comes in the form of guest star Eric Gustafsson, who plays Clay McMurtry. If you recognize the character's surname there is a reason for that.

In this Sunday's episode, Tim (Chris Potter) is caught in the middle of Jade’s (Madison Cheeatow) showdown with a new hotshot bronc rider. I'm sure you can figure out who that is. Meanwhile, Georgie (Alisha Newton) is feeling trapped in a rivalry of her own with Adam (Kataem O'Connor). As for Amy (Amber Marshall), she and Jack (Shaun Johnston) work with a top-flight bronc that has lost his mojo, while Ty (Graham Wardle) faces a dilemma when a new professional passion project threatens to upend his life with Amy. And old feelings are rekindled when Casey (Victoria Pratt) and Tim finally get around to talking again.

Yeah, you just know there will be changes when the new kid in town arrives (Haw! Notice how I used the first three episode titles there?).

Since I've been getting into the habit of including ten photos with each Thursday blog post I thought I would do so again, for after all Heartland is in its 10th fabulous season. A few of these photos need a bit of explaining so then...

That's Hellion in the second photo being led by Jack. Hellion is the bronc who has lost the urge to buck like he used to. I had mentioned him in our daily production tweets on Twitter so now you will get to see him in all his glory. By the way, I'm still sending out production tweets because filming is going on right up until early December.

The good looking hombre tipping his hat in the fifth photo? That's Clay. You'll learn to love him, or despise him, but I have a feeling you will not be too neutral about him. Heh heh.

And that's guest star Roger LeBlanc, who plays Bob Granger, in photos six and seven. Bob comes up with quite the idea. I won't spoil it for you, but you won't want to miss it.

Earlier in the year I posted photos of the woodland caribou which appears in this episode. That's him (Woody) in the eighth photo, with Georgie and Adam.

And speaking of Georgie and Adam, the last two photos are connected. Photo #9 shows the pair talking to Jade as she is about to ride a bronc, while photo #10 is a production photo showing director Eleanore Lindo blocking the shot. That's Kataem with his back to us and you can see Madison to the right and slightly behind Eleanore, sitting on the same bale of hay we see her on in the previous photo. Cool huh?

Want to see the start of the episode - a First Look? Watch for that tomorrow!

That my friends is all I have for you this week, except to congratulate those Toronto Blue Jays for getting to the American League Championship Series. Go Jays Go! And the real good non-conflicting news is that none of their games against the Cleveland Indians fall on a Sunday, so everyone can go back to enjoying Heartland live again this (and next) Sunday at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland). That's of course on the full CBC Network across the country.

So then Canada - are you ready? I hope this blog has whetted your appetite, piqued your interest, raised your apprehension, or at the very least made you more determined to catch this Sunday's NEW episode of Heartland (As if you would be reading this not planning to. Ha!).

I will certainly be watching it again, and I'll be back next Thursday with a new blog for yet another new episode of Heartland. Until then I remain, as always, obediently yours.
