Sunday March 6 - a New Episode of Heartland!

Episode 416

There is something about the number '3' in today's blog. As I post this, it's now the third day of the third month, and I'm going to go into detail about the third-to-last new episode of THIS season of Heartland. Click through for exclusive details and photos from this Sunday's new episode of Heartland, as well as more references to the number '3'!

Of course the boxed DVD set of Season 3 is going to be hitting the streets on March 22nd (which is just under 3 weeks from now) and VERY VERY soon we are going to launch a contest here on the Official Heartland Site that will allow some of you (WAY more than 3!) to be among the first to own the new release! Watch for it here soon.

What else? Oh yes, the 3-week long Facebook contest is now in its 3rd week and ends in - you guessed it - 3 days (Sunday). If you haven't entered this week go to our Official Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/cbcheartland and click on the word CONTEST! at the top of the page and join the many who have entered. We're giving away one of Amy's bling-y belts, actually worn by Amber Marshall throughout much of season 2 and 3 of the show.

Now before I tell you all a bit about this week's episode, "Never Surrender," I want to make sure all you loyal fans know what is happening with your favourite series. After this Sunday's episode there will be two more episodes from Season 4 to air at the regular time of 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) across Canada on CBC Television. Episode 417 will air on March 13, and then the Season 4 Finale - Episode 418 - will air on Sunday, March 27.

For those of you about to say "Oh, no! OMG!!! Please tell me there will be more Heartland!!!" rest easy, 'cause that is exactly what I'm going to do!  There are 18 brand new episodes for Season 5 that are being written by the talented series' writers across Canada, and they, along with the cast and crew will gather in Calgary in May to begin production on the 68th through 85th episodes of Heartland, and these episodes will be beginning their broadcast for you in late September or early October. On what day? Sunday of course! At what time? 7:00pm across Canada (7:30pm in Newfoundland). Was this a good paragraph? Oh, yes indeed!!!

But now let me fill you in a bit on "Never Surrender," which is the brand new episode of Heartland airing this Sunday.

Like last week's episode, which everyone seemed to really enjoy, "Never Surrender" was directed by Chris Potter, this time from a screenplay by Leila Basen, Ken Craw, Mark Haroun & David Preston, based on a story by Will Pascoe.

In it, Caleb's friend Bryce, a paralyzed military vet and ex-rodeo star (played by guest star Jesse Hutch), hires Amy to help sell his roping horse.  However, Amy sees an opportunity to re-train both horse and rider, though she needs help to convince this proud and emotionally damaged cowboy that he can recapture his love for riding despite his injury.  Also making an appearance as herself in this week's episode is Canadian double Paralympic medalist, Lauren Barwick (winner of individual gold and silver medals at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing), who lends her expertise and experience to the situation.

And this week Chris Potter will make an on-screen appearance, as his character Tim shares a misunderstanding with Jack through a lack of communication (gee.. that never happens between those two!) which contributes to the interesting relationship between the two men. And Scott Cardinal drops by Heartland again, to check in on Ty and to say "hello" to Lou.  And even Mallory returns to Heartland, to see Copper again.

As for the ever-expanding Lou, she meanwhile agrees to be Marnie's labour coach but being around Marnie's rambunctious toddler makes her wonder if she's really cut out for motherhood.

Wow, that is a lot for a single episode of Heartland (and there are things in this week's episode I haven't even mentioned), but I think you're really going to enjoy it.

As always, come back and let me and everyone else know what you thought!

In the meantime, have a great weekend and watch for more interesting news and blog info here next week.

As always,
