New Episode Sunday and Fans-As-Extras-Day Info

Posted on Nov 9, 2017

We have a very entertaining and touching episode across Canada on CBC this Sunday. The title is "Our Sons and Daughters." Written by Mark Haroun and directed by Chris Potter.

I am going to tell you a bit about it to accompany the 12 photos you see here, but first I want to give you a production update, to tell you that Amber Marshall will be making an appearance in Toronto this weekend and also to give you some very good news on the Fans-as-Extras-Day in Calgary on Thursday, November 23. So then...

Today marks the start of filming for the last two episodes of season 11. As I type this, Megan Follows is directing episode 1117. All the scenes shot today are from her episode but tomorrow, Heartland's producer, Dean Bennett will join her as the first scene of episode 1118, which he is directing, will be filmed. They are going to be very exciting episodes to close out this season of Heartland with.

Now, Amber has been a fixture at the biggest equestrian event in Toronto, the annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, which is held at the CNE grounds. Here is what Amber will be doing there this weekend, for those of you in the Toronto area who might want see her:

Saturday, November 11 - There will be a fan signing from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Please note: wrist bands are required, and those are free to be picked up at the Royal Paddock, beginning at 10:00am. FYI - the Heritage Court Entrance is the closest entrance to the Royal Paddock. There are a limited number of wrist bands which will be handed out on a first come, first served basis. Arrive early, and you may get to meet Heartland's Amy.

On Sunday, Amber will be co-emceeing the Royal Rodeo in the Ricoh Coliseum starting at 1:00pm. Tickets can be puchased here. So you can watch the rodeo and still make it home in time to watch a new episode of Heartland.

Notice how I cleverly segued to the meat of this blog - Sunday's NEW season 11 episode of Heartland. Let me tell you a bit about it.

When some old friends return to Hudson on vacation, Amy (Amber Marshall) tries to teach them about the life-changing power of connecting to a horse, in order to help them cope with parenting struggles. If you've seen the preview you'll know those old friends are guest stars Mackenzie (Cara Pifko) and Ian (Gord Rand). Remember they were married on the Dude Ranch pier in season 2? You must remember Ian arriving on horseback in a shining knight's armour? Well, they are back (Yes, that is who it is), and they have a son - Grayson, played by the very talented Gavin MacIver-Wright.

Also in the episode, Georgie (Alisha Newton) gets invited on a road trip, but it might not be everything she hoped for, as she and Adam (Kataem O'Connor) and Wyatt (Dempsey Bryk) decide to drive to Torrington, Alberta. Look it up and you'll see why it is an Alberta tourist destination.

Buth there's more! With Lou (Michelle Morgan) back in New York, Peter (Gabriel Hogan) takes care of Katie (Julia Baker), but worries when she doesn’t come home from a trail ride. And to add a fourth storyline, Jack (Shaun Johnston) and Lisa (Jessica Steen) receive an unexpected housewarming gift. And we do mean unexpected!

So, how DO they fit it all into an hour? I've seen it, so I know it has been done and done excellently. I hope you agree when you watch it this Sunday across Canada on CBC, at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland).

Now, I've saved some good news for last. Just as I posted this, on production's request, I sent an email to the address given in my Monday blog about Heartland needing Fans-as-Extras for a huge day of filming on November 23. So here's the news - I posted this at 3:45pm Eastern Time, the same time I sent my email. Everyone who applied before this time by sending an email to the FaED email address has been accepted and can be part of the crowd (I told you many were needed!). So if you sent your email before this you and your group are going to be part of a big crowd in the season 11 finale.

Those of you who are getting in will receive an email in a little over a week with a release, a map and full instructions. Congratulations to all of you who will be having a great day in Calgary on location in two weeks' time.

Whew! That's it for me. I'll be back next week with more information on the following Sunday's episode. In the meantime, please take some time to remember those who you may not even know, but their sacrifices on battlefields in the past enable us to live the lives we do today. Wear a poppy proudly for Remembrance Day tomorrow.

Have a good weekend Friends & Fans, and I'll be back next week. Until then I remain, as always, obediently yours.
