Heartland assisting the Calgary Inter‑Faith Food Bank in a charity hockey game

Posted on Nov 28, 2008

A couple of weeks ago we informed Heartland fans in the Toronto area about a cast appearance at the Royal Winter Fair. This Saturday fans in Calgary get an opportunity to see some cast and crew as they face off against the cast and crew of another television series filming in Calgary.

This time of year the Calgary Inter‑Faith Food Bank is always looking for donations, and the local film industry is getting together Saturday for a charity hockey game to do just that and help the Food Bank's cause.

Members of the cast and crew of "Heartland" (Team name ‑ the Mustangs) will face off against members of the cast and crew of "Wild Roses" (Team name ‑ The Wilds) this Saturday, November 29 at the Olympic Skating Oval at the University of Calgary Campus. Access to the Olympic Oval is from 32 Avenue NW at Collegiate Blvd. The puck will drop at 1:00pm.

Spectators are welcome and admission to the game will be a non‑perishable food item.

This time last year the Heartland Mustangs played against the cast and crew of "Passchendaele," which was filming in the area and is now in local theatres. Hundreds of pounds of food was donated in what turned out to be a very special event for the Food Bank. Hopes are high that donations this year will surpass the tally from last year.

Gemini nominated actor Shaun Johnston, who plays the patriarch Jack, is captaining the Heartland team and will lead his team onto the ice.

If you are in Calgary and want to come out, bring a donation and come cheer the Mustangs on!
