The good people at the Canadian National Institute of the Blind (CNIB) are embarking on a new fund raising initiative titled "EYE on EBAY" and Heartland is a part of it. Right now the CNIB is hosting an eBay online auction event, in order to raise funds for Albertans who are blind and partially sighted. Click through to the blog post to find out how YOU could bit on a Heartland set visit and other great stuff!

So, as I said, Heartland has donated a Set Visit Package. Here's the description on eBay.ca :

===============

The primary location for the filming of CBC's Heartland takes place on a large acreage just outside of Millarville, Alberta (a 30 minute drive south west of Calgary). Come experience what's it like to be a part of Canada's most watched family drama, as you and 3 guests (a family of 4) will get to visit the Heartland Ranch set, meet series' leads Amber Marshall, Graham Wardle and other cast members, get close to the horses in the series and watch part of an episode being filmed. For young fans of the series this will be an experience they will not forget. Your visit will include a tour of the production, accompanied by the series' publicist where you will watch part of an episode from Season 5 being filmed. In addition this item includes the full Season 1 and Season 2 DVD boxed sets, and a full sized poster from Heartland, autographed by series' star Amber Marshall, who plays Amy on Heartland.

The successful bidder will be put in touch with the production, and a mutually agreeable weekday will be selected for the visit, to be taken between June 1 and October 31. Maximum 4 persons, one of whom must be a parent and/or legal guardian of any accompanying minors.

When approached we thought this was an excellent idea, and it enables a fan to come with their family and meet the cast. If you are in the Calgary area, or are going to be sometime this summer, (transportation is NOT included in this package, obviously) this is an opportunity to see what it is like on the set of your favourite television show!

The auction closes in eight days (on April 7th), so you have a bit time to determine whether you would want to bid on this item. To do so you have to register with eBay (or, if you are a minor, your parents must do so.)

The CNIB passionately provides community-based support, knowledge and a national voice to ensure Canadians who are blind or partially sighted have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life. All proceeds from this auction will support CNIB programs and services in Alberta including unique programs that teach adaptive ways to use computers, to travel safely and to live independently. Other services include cooking classes, career and employment services, and peer support groups where clients can share their experiences of living with vision loss. CNIB Alberta also offers extensive child and family services, including children's play groups, toy lending libraries, and an accessible outdoor classroom in Calgary.

If you do decide to bid on the Heartland package, good luck. And if you have the winning bid they'll give you and your group the royal Heartland treatment (check out Heartland fan KMA88's awesome guest blog post of her set visit last year here), I guarantee it! You'll be donating to a worthy cause, and they'll make sure you have a fabulous time that you won't soon forget.
