Another Crowd Day on Set

Posted on Aug 18, 2016

Here we are Heartlanders, tick... tick... ticking along, just 45 days from the season 9 premiere of Heartland's 10th season on CBC.

Of course the downside is that summer ticks away as well, but I have a hunch we'll be looking at a fine fall in the Calgary/High River/Millarville area. And of course we will have our favourite television series to watch.

It was a year ago that block 5, containing episodes 909 and 910, was being filmed. A lot of the action took place at the "polluted" stream which was actually 3-Point Creek in the Millarville area. All that garbage and waste you see in these photos and in the episode was brought there by production's set dec department, who placed it there and removed it right after filming was completed. That's right folks, no stream was actually polluted at any time during filming.

Anyway, I thought I'd post a bunch of never before seen photos from that block, just because they are pretty good photos and I know how much you like photographs of the men on this series. I do hope you like them.

And now the BIG news, which I spilled on Facebook yesterday - Heartland is going to have another big crowd day, and that means another chance for fans to show up early in the morning (it will be on a weekday in September) and become what is known in the business as a background extra.

If you've done it before you may want to come out again. It will be a little different than previous years and that's all I can tell you until Monday, when on Heartland on CBC's Facebook Page I will detail how you can register and how long it should take and what you will be watching. I'll try to mention which cast will be on set. In fact, I'll reveal as much as I can so everyone who wants to come out will know exactly what is going to happen on the day.

If you've never been on a film or television set it will be a great learning experience, as you'll get to see how filming works.

So that will be this Monday, August 22, in the morning on our Facebook page. Watch for it.

And that is all I have for today (isn't that plenty?). Next week I will return with more news and photos. Until then I will remain, as always... obediently yours.
