A Bullet Point Blog

Posted on Jul 16, 2015

Last week I went into great detail on how when Heartland is in production there really is a lot going on. I also had a slew of photographs of Amber Marshall (Amy) as she fearlessly street hosted the Calgary Stampede Parade for CBC.

This week I am going to post some odds and ends. A few of these a lot of you will already know, but they bear constant reminding and informing, for every week this show gains new fans from around the world.

  • So to start - today is Michelle Morgan's birthday and she is fortunate enough today to not be needed on set. Actually she wouldn't mind working (she loves playing Lou) but if you don't have to work on your birthday why not enjoy the option of doing whatever you want? Everyone loves Michelle as Lou and I just want to again extend to her a dynamite birthday greeting!
  • Now I'm not really one for "throwback Thursdays" but by coincidence the nominations for the Prime Time Emmy Awards were announced today and we want to wish congratulations to Tatiana Maslany, who played Kit Bailey in three seasons of Heartland (starting with episode 205 - Corporate Cowgirls). Tatiana has been nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy, for her role(s) in the science fiction thriller series "Orphan Black." Way to go Tatiana! I'm sure you will all join me in congratulating her and wishing her good luck on September 20, when the Emmys are presented in Los Angeles.

So that explains why I have elected to run a photograph of Tatiana as Kit at the top of this blog.

  • Other than that I wish to say that except for the weather turning unusually rainy for this time of year production is progressing very well. Today marks the halfway point of the third block of season 9, so this season is getting close to having been one-third shot.
  • And for those of you keeping notes (ha!) here are the titles and authors of the next two episodes that will be going into production in a week and a half - Episode 907 is titled "Fearless", and it was written by Mark Haroun. And Block 4 will see "Fearless" coupled with a script by Ken Craw; Episode 908 is titled "Reckless Abandon." Those sure are interesting titles, no?
  • Those of you looking to purchase Season 8 will be waiting less than three months as eOne Entertainment will be releasing the DVDs around the same time that Season 9 premieres on CBC Television.
  • And in case you had forgotten (Ha again!) Heartland's ninth season will premiere on Sunday, October 4 at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) on CBC. I get excited just typing this!
  • I'm glad season 6 is now available on Netflix in the US. As I have told our American fans many time, we have no control or say when the seasons get added to Netflix in countries other than Canada. I can tell you it will happen; I just cannot say when. Asking us does no good for we have zero input in those decisions.
  • I think we are going to go back to a form of the Tuesday Time Killer, starting next week. Keep watching this blog for more information then.

So that's about all I have for you this week. Short, but concise. I hope you are all enjoying summer and that it contains things that will become great memories. That is what everyone who works on Heartland is trying to do as well.

So until I blog again (next Tuesday) I remain, as always, obediently yours.
