The War of the Camphor Laurels

Camphor Laurels.jpgOne million camphor laurel trees have spread throughout the Bellingen valley, on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia. Locals either see the trees as beautiful, or as giant weeds. The town is at war over whether four camphor laurel trees should be chopped down. Everyone in town has an opinion; sometimes several.
