Is murder in your DNA?

In 1987, 18-year-old Tanya van Cuylenborg and her 20-year-old boyfriend Jay Cook left their home in Saanich, B.C., for an overnight trip to Seattle. Their bodies were found a week later. The case remained unsolved for three decades until William Earl Talbott II was arrested and convicted based on evidence derived from genetic genealogy. While that new and controversial technique gives new hope to victims' families, it challenges how the justice system uses DNA and raises questions about how it could affect future cases.
