There have been 12 elephants at the Toronto Zoo since it opened in 1974. Seven have died, and two have been relocated, leaving just Toka, Thika and Iringa behind.

Toka, 41, was born in the wild in Mozambique in 1970. She was orphaned as a result of a government organized cull of her herd. She arrived at the zoo on September 9, 1974.

Iringa, 43, was born in the wild of Mozambique in 1969. She was orphaned by a government organized cull of her herd. She arrived at the zoo on November 1, 1974.

Thika, 33, was born at the Toronto zoo on October 18, 1980. Her parents are Tantor and Tequila.
