Add Sophia Kokosalaki’s name to the ever-growing list of designers who are obsessed with hand-crafted technique. This season she was inspired by man-made architecture but wanted to be subtle in executing that influence within her clothing. As a result, her collection for Spring/Summer 2006 has two sides to it - simple and effortless on the outside, sophisticated and structured underneath.

Sophia Kokosalaki is one of fashion’s shooting stars. A graduate of London’s Central St. Martins, she’s had in own label for six years. But her biggest coup was being chosen to design the opening and closing outfits for the 2004 Olympics held in her hometown of Athens. Some her Olympics designs trickled into her collection for Spring 2005.

At only 28, this Greek-born fashion ingenue is one of London’s rising stars. There a real buzz about her work, with fans like Courtney Love and Kate Moss quick to seize onto her romantic, futuristic designs. Kokosalaki was the first to do the Greek goddess look and this season she re-worked the theme with inventive use of leathers and textiles – for men and for women.
