Cree Solidarity funds 4 initial projects

The Cree Alliance for Solidarity Committee has agreed to fund four intial projects aimed at fighting poverty in Eeyou Istchee. The Alliance was set up to oversee the implementation of an agreement with the Cree Regional Authority. Deputy Grand Chief Rodney Mark is a committee member of the Alliance. Christopher Herodier spoke with Rodney to get more information.

Bertrand was the backbone of Air Creebec, says Happyjack

aircreebec_G.jpg Air Creebec has lost a dedicated member of its team. Dave Bertrand, who was Director General and had worked with the company almost since the begining, passed away suddenly on September 24th (read CreeCo's press release here). Betsy Longchap spoke with Air Creebec President Matthew Happyjack about how Dave Bertrand will be remembered.

Grand Council responds to Strateco's latest

Strateco Resources is not happy with the way the Quebec government has dealt with its request to explore for uranium in the Otish Mountains. On September 23rd the company issued a press release saying the government has all the materials it needs to approve the project, but that a "lack of social acceptability" is getting in the way. To better understand what this means, Christopher Herodier spoke with Cree negotiator Abel Bosum who has worked extensively on this file.
