Small fires sparked near Wemindji in early morning lightening strikes

Early on the morning of July 5, lightening strikes near the community of Wemindji sparked some forest fires. The location of one of them is at KM 18 on the access road to the community. The Wemindji Fire Department are currently mobilizing their firefighting team in an attempt to put the forest fire out as quickly as possible. As a precautionary measure, the Department of the Eeyou Eenou Police Force has set up a road block just outside of the community of Wemindji. Rodney Mark is the chief of Wemindji. Lindsay Visitor spoke with him about what kind of supplies the community has.
