Chief of Chisasibi agrees home ownership is the way to go

The Chief of Chisasibi says he agrees with the Cree Regional Authority that one of the solutions to housing issues in Eyou Istchee is to convince more people to consider owning their own home. The CRA says there has been a problem with house shortages in Cree communities for many years. Joshua Loon spoke with Chisasibi Chief Davey Bobbish.

In Chisasibi, there are 50 rent to own and 50 private homes right now. On top of that there are 35 more on the way. The community offers more than $136 thousand in grants to all community members who qualify.
