District profile:

In 2012, the provincial electoral district boundaries were redrawn and the new district of Sackville-Beaver Bank was created by combining portions of the former district of Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville and the district of Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank.

The district includes the fast-growing population Middle Sackville, Upper Sackville and Beaver Bank, and consists largely of bedroom suburbs, trailer parks and strip mall developments.

Political history:

This district does not have an incumbent candidate due to the electoral boundary changes made in 2012. Sackville-Beaver Bank was created with 56 per cent of the former district of Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville and 12 per cent of the district of Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank.

In the 2009 general election, New Democrat Mat Whynott took the former district of Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville with half the popular vote, while Progressive Conservative incumbent Barry Barnet was relegated to third place.

Barnet had been elected three times, the first as MLA for the old Sackville-Beaver Bank district in 1999. The Liberals and NDP also represented Sackville-Beaver Bank in the '90s.
