LRT driver who sounds like a pilot
If you've ever ridden the LRT, you may have been lucky enough to catch the driver that puts a smile on almost everyone's face.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Sit back and relax, you're in good hands riding the fast, friendly rails of the Edmonton Transit System," is just one of many things Tim Mireault says on my ride from Clareview to Churchill station. He's also kind enough to give the weather forecast, and welcome all the new riders who might be heading back to school that day. Even though I'm not a morning person, I couldn't help but smile myself.
With his smooth-sounding voice, Mireault has also earned himself a Facebook fan page called Fans of the Edmonton LRT driver who sounds like a pilot. If you go on there, you can see how such a little thing on the daily commute affects so many people in a positive way. Many of the 1,845 members have written about how he cheers them up, and some even are trying to find out exactly when they can catch him. While not every driver turns passengers into their audience, sometimes it's the unexpected that can make your day. I've even had a driver announce the Rexall Place stop as Lady Gaga when she was in town... and almost everyone laughed.
It's great to be entertained on the LRT sometimes, and know that the person taking you from A to B is enjoying their job.
