The Dragons’ Den Effect: Episode 3

Appearing in the Den has a tendency to change lives - increased sales, new distributors, and emails from across the country. We like to call it "The Dragons' Den Effect." Each week, Dragons' Den producers will follow the successes and track the big news, and give you the inside scoop on what happened to these entrepreneurs after their big debut. This week we checked in some of our hardworking pitchers from Episode Three.

Mike Solomita of Cefaly proudly reported that things are good..."but crazy!" As his pitch aired, he had over 5,000 hits to his website and tons of orders and inquires from customers and potential dealers. Mike's friends, family, and all of his staff across Canada gathered together for a viewing party - complete with a specially prepared Dragons' Den cake!

Walter Woloschuk of Gamma Ray Boosters said that following the episode's airing, he received a lot of support from other viewers saying the Dragons got it wrong. And he's working on proving it - he received a half a dozen inquiries about his product and is feeling motivated and excited to make his business a big success.

And it was a whirlwind week for Elaine Comeau of Easy Daysies. She watched her website traffic grow as Dragons' Den started airing in the Atlantic Time Zone - by the time her pitch aired in B.C., she was getting 8 new visitors/second! She saw an immediate spike in sales in the first 6 hours, and after 24 hours, she sold over $5,000 worth of her product. She says that she has received many new store accounts since airing and was even contacted by from Canada Post, who are interested in helping her ship her product. Elaine and her family celebrated by hosting a viewing party at the local Boston Pizza with 70 family and friends, where she says "it was hard to find a dry eye in the whole room." If that weren't enough, the next evening Elaine was on a panel at a Dragons' Den event at SFU, where she answered questions about the show alongside Dragons Jim Treliving and Bruce Croxon. And now, the mom of three is busier than ever. "The phone is constantly ringing!"
