Four sisters follow the footsteps of their long-lost sister, Sally

Sally Dawit’s sisters and niece visit the village where she spent the final months of her life while in hiding.

In 1977, Selamawit (Sally) Dawit went into hiding with her husband, another freedom fighter, after being targeted by Ethiopia’s military government. Now, Sally’s sisters, along with her niece, have journeyed to the village in northern Ethiopia where Sally spent the last few months of her life, looking for remnants of their sister’s legacy.

Many people in the village remembered Sally — she focused on supporting women, helping the sick and providing education on politics to locals during her time there.
