HIV in Canadian prisons

HIV rates in Canadian prisons are about 15 times higher than infection rates in the general population.

According to the The Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network the per centage of prisoners infected with HIV rivals that of some countries in Africa.

And life with HIV inside the walls is different from outside.

Daybreak's Jesara Sinclair went inside those walls, to La Macaza Federal Institution.

She spoke with Douglas Foreman an inmate who has been living with HIV since the mid-80s.

Children's Winter Holiday Story

It's New Year's Eve! And that means we're reading the very last of our winter holiday stories. All through the month of December, Daybreak brought you children's winter holiday stories. The stories come from kids who entered our holiday story contest.

Out of hundreds of great entries, CBC had to pick 27.

Pireetha Gnani is in Grade 6 at Fraser Academy. Here she is with our very last holiday story.
