McGill cutting varsity sports

For many students who love sports at McGill University, this has turned into an autumn of disappointment and frustration. A decision last spring to strip sports of their Varsity status because of the university's budget squeeze is hitting home now. Sports like football have been protected, though not the cheerleaders. Some of the others who've been stripped of varsity status include: men's volleyball, figure skating, sailing, wrestling, women's lacrosse and fencing. Max Rossiter is new to McGill University this year, a Canadian whose family lives in London, he hoped to be on the varsity fencing team.
