Troops out of Iraq


U.S. President Barack Obama will make an address to the nation tonight to describe the end of the American combat mission in Iraq.

We spoke to 2 Montrealers who have a particular interest in what the President will say.

No room on the bus?

Every morning, Katherine Hope sends her three kids off to FACE school downtown from their home in Westmount.

Her youngest child gets on the school bus.

But her other two kids have to make their own way to school.

Shale gas public hearings

The government has decided to hold public hearings on shale gas mining in Quebec.

This type of mining uses water, sand and chemicals to extract natural gas from shale deposits.

Leaders in the pulp and paper, metal and other big industries in Quebec are eager to see this type of energy exploited.

But the farming industry, environmental groups and some municipalities are concerned about the environmental consequences of shale mining in Quebec.

We spoke with provincial Environment Minister Pierre Arcand.
