Daybreak Alberta's Chris dela Torre spoke with Juno-winner, Polaris Prize-winner and Oscar-nominee, Owen Pallett. They spoke about the violinist's latest album, In Conflict, and the state of modern music. Pallett is headlining the Pre-Sled Island Party, a free, all-ages outdoor show outside Lukes Drug Mart in Calgary Sunday afternoon.

Daybreak's Alberta Books columnist Angie Abdou dropped by with her review of Birdie by Tracey Lindberg. The debut novel from the Alberta-based lawyer and First Nations activist is already receiving plenty of buzz from national media. Abdou calls Birdie a difficult-but-rewarding read -- and certainly important, in light of the recent release of the Truth & Reconciliation recommendations.
