Joanna Chang is trying to balance being a mother with taking on a new case that threatens the future of Millwood. Both jobs are hard and doing them at the same time is proving challenging. Life with a baby started out normally - Joanna went into labour in the middle of a cross-examination and she held off going to the hospital until she coaxed a confession. For Joanna, life as a mother brought the usual challenges - very little rest and very little idea of what she’s doing. Joanna is used to existing on next to no sleep, but this is a brand new kind of tired. After a blissful year living and working alongside Billy Crawford, they’re both suddenly struggling with this new life, because, as they say, having a baby is like throwing a bomb in the middle of your relationship. Joanna is being crushed under the expectations of modern motherhood - and she’s certain the women in her Mummy’s Group are plotting against her. So, when a local Millwood woman reached out with a request for legal help to take on a multi-national mining company’s Millwood project, Joanna agreed to help…because it seemed easier than raising a baby.
