Fire forces evacuation on North Shore

Fast-moving forest fires forced the emergency evacuation of the village of Baie-Johan-Beetz, on the North Shore of the province, just before midnight last night. The community of 93 people was safely relocated to nearby Havre-St. Pierre. The CBC's Julia Caron spoke with Geneviève Tremblay, who runs an outfitting company at the historic Pourvoirie Baie-Johan-Beetz. Sept-Iles' Yvan Pedneault in Notre-Dame de Paris

An English-language production of Luc Plamondon's musical "Notre-Dame de Paris" will soon be making its way through Asia. Joining the cast, in the role of Phoebus, Sept-Iles actor and singer Yvan Pedneault. The CBC's Rachelle Solomon caught up with Yvan Pedneault while he was in Paris for rehearsals, not far from the site - the Notre Dame Cathedral - that inspired the story...

Remembering two pillars of the English-speaking community

Sad news to pass on. Two very active and beloved members of the English-speaking community died over the past few days: Emma Duncan-Kerr and Marc Deslauriers. The Breakaway team recently met up with both of them when we broadcast the show from Baie-Comeau on March 2, 2012. We extend our sincerest condolences to their families and friends.
