Sowing seeds of hope in Lac-Mégantic

In a time of tragedy, business owners have come together to bring a bit of beauty in bloom to Lac-Mégantic. Five businesses in the Eastern Townships have donated pots, soil, plants, and labour to bring showcase nature's resilience. Mélanie Gregoire, a partner with Les Serres St-Elie, spearheaded the project and told CBC's Marika Wheeler about how the idea came about. The other companies involved are: Pépinière l'avenir, Fafard, DCM, and Les paysages durables.

Finding family in the aftermath of Lac-Mégantic

breakaway pic.jpgAs the list of confirmed deaths climbs in Lac-Mégantic, so too does the level of grief and shock.  The CBC's Marika Wheeler has been meeting town residents and brought us the story of a mother and son, each of whom thought the other was missing. Germain Houde was in Ontario, working at a summer camp, when he heard about the disaster and headed home.
