BookFest on Breakaway

BookFest events celebrate reading along the Gaspé Coast and the Magdalen Islands, and this year, Breakaway is taking part by hosting our own on-air activity. Every afternoon this week, guests with a connection to that part of the province will join us to share some of their favourite books and to talk about why they love to read.

Monday, April 23, 2012:  To get things started, our Rachelle Solomon spoke with Lisa Mosher, a literacy consultant who represents the anglophone community on the BookFest executive.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012:  The Bishop of Quebec, Dennis Drainville, keeps a home in Barachois. Bishop Drainvile shares Louise Penny's A Trick of the Light.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012:  Cora Tsouflidou, the founder of the Chez Cora restaurant franchise, was born in Caplan. Cora Tsouflidou shares Jim Collins' Good to Great and explains how books lead to big business, with breakfasts.


Thursday, April 26, 2012: Singer-songwriter Bonnie Ste-Croix traveled the whole country recording her latest album, Canadian Girl, but she always finds her way home to Gaspé. Bonnie shares a book that was a childhood favourite, Samantha's Secret Room, by Lyn Cook.



Friday, April 27, 2012:  Paul Almond  After a 40-year career in television and film, Paul Almond is now novelist, and he spends summers writing and reading at the family homestead in Shigawake. Paul Almond shares "The Blooding of Jack Absolute" by Chris Humphreys.
