Wooden yurts made in Fermont
Still used in the steppes of Central Asia today, yurts are an ancient design of shelter, circular in form, made of felt or canvas. A group of four residents from the mining boom town of Fermont, in northeastern Quebec, is manufacturing modern yurts made from local wood. Jacquie found out more about the yurts built by Nature-Concept at the Cottage & Country Homes Show in Quebec City.
