July 1, 2017 marks 150 years since Confederation in Canada. CBC Books is creating the great Canadian reading list — a list of 150 books curated by you.

Chris dela Torre, host of CBC Radio's Afternoon Drive, adds This Is Happy by Camilla Gibb to the reading list.

"This Is Happy by Camilla Gibb stuck with me for a long time. She has such a beautiful way of addressing very intimate moments of trauma in her life. She describes her traumatic childhood and the devastation of her breakup with such grace and unadorned honesty... I can't imagine what it took to put that down on paper. I especially love the family of people that surrounded her after the breakup. It tells me no matter hard it gets, there's always hope waiting around the corner."

Chris dela Torre is the host of Afternoon Drive, which airs weekdays in southwestern Ontario from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on CBC Radio One.
