Sleep, My Baby
Lena Allen-Shore and Jacques Shore, illustrated by Jessica Courtney-Tickle.
This newly adapted lullaby was passed on from a Holocaust survivor to her children, and from her children to theirs. The comforting, timeless song is full of love, hope, and dreams to sing to your little one as they drift off to sleep. Dr. Lena Allen-Shore was a writer, composer, teacher, and mentor.
A survivor of the Holocaust, she was determined to make the world a gentler place. She was well loved for her kind, nurturing, and compassionate nature and much respected for her work to show people that amid our differences we share a common desire for love, happiness, and kindness. The author of more than seventeen books, she garnered praise for Building Bridges: Pope John Paul II and the Horizon of Life, based on her twenty-five years of friendship with the pontiff. She accompanied Pope John Paul II on his historic five-day visit to Jerusalem in 2000.
Sleep, My Baby was originally written for her sons. They sang the lullaby to their children, who now sing it to the next generation of their family. It is their hope that you also sing it with yours. (From Little Simon)
