Priscila Uppal was a poet, novelist, playwright and an English professor at York University. She has written 10 poetry books, including Ontological Necessities and Sabotage. She also authored a memoir entitled Projection in 2013, which was shortlisted for both a Governor General's Literary Award and the Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Non-Fiction.

Uppal died in September 2018.
